Consultant Cardiologist, Director of Clinical services and Innovation
Dr Kaushik Guha MBBS BSc (Hons) FRCP MD is a longstanding consultant cardiologist with nearly twenty years of clinical experience. He completed undergraduate training at St. George’s Hospital Medical School, London graduating in 2004 with honors in medicine and surgery.
He then was awarded his MRCP at the earliest opportunity in 2007 and then completed junior doctor training at a number of hospitals within Surrey and London. Dr Guha was awarded a cardiology registrar number in 2007 and completed his registrar training in 2016. He trained at a number of prestigious hospitals including St. George’s Hospital, London, Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton and completed his fellowship training at Harefield and the Royal Brompton hospitals. He has been a substantive Consultant Cardiologist at Portsmouth University Hospitals since 2016.
Within his current job role, he participates within a full on call rota for all aspects of cardiovascular medicine and cardiology, and is one of the heart failure leads within one of the biggest services within the United Kingdom. He also retains clinical abilities within the implantation of conventional pacemakers and complex devices including defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy. By participating within the heart failure service, Dr Guha has also developed interests within cardiac sarcoidosis and amyloidosis and is the local lead for both services.
Dr Guha was awarded his doctoral thesis by Imperial College in 2014, and despite a very busy clinical job has retained a strong interest within research. He has authored over 50 peer reviewed articles with book chapters within the Oxford Textbook of Medicine and European Society textbook of Cardiology amongst others. Dr Guha also has participated within a large number of HF studies and has been the local primary investigator for a number of randomised controlled studies.

Research Interests
Since his appointment, Dr Guha has retained a keen interest in research and has been the local primary investigator for a number of heart failure studies. This has included the CARDIOMEMS (remote pulmonary artery sensor) – COAST_OUS STUDY. He continues to participate within an active departmental research in all aspects of heart failure and cardiology.
Publications
Dr Guha has published over 50 peer reviewed scientific papers, articles, conference abstracts and book chapters. This has included contributions to the Oxford Textbook of Medicine and Oxford Textbook of Heart Failure.
Education
Dr Guha was the previous departmental lead for undergraduate student education. He continues to provide education to all and has been an invited speaker at both regional and national conferences.
